The compact size when folded and the small cover screen are really convenient for everyday use. I also like being able to use Netflix on the front screen, and the flip function is useful as a phone stand, especially when taking photos and videos. The camera and video quality are good, including in darker lighting, and the 0.6x wide-angle works well. I also find the side bar convenient for quick access without cluttering the main screen. I haven’t encountered any major issues so far. I’m gradually getting used to the small screen and side fingerprint sensor, and will continue exploring the phone’s other features.

The outer cover screen is so useful for quick everyday tasks, but using it as a live preview to take photos with the main camera takes selfies and group pictures to a whole new level. I love that I can just set the phone down partially folded to snap crisp pictures hands-free without needing a stand or tripod. The camera quality is fantastic, the screen interaction is super smooth, and switching ecosystems ended up being way easier than I expected!

The foldable design is very compact and light, but also surprisingly practical — I love being able to prop it up on its own for photos, and the cover screen is really handy for quick previews. Photo Assist has probably impressed me the most though. Being able to remove distractions and clean up photos directly in Gallery is so convenient, and the results are surprisingly good. Overall, it feels thoughtful, polished and just really enjoyable to use.

The cover screen, hands free camera setup, customisation and overall design are features I would miss. The biggest adjustment was moving from iOS to Android, particularly the keyboard, gestures and some everyday app experiences. While I became much more comfortable with Android over the past month, I also realised how much my preferences are shaped by the ecosystem I am already used to. Overall, the Flip8 is a fun and capable phone with a genuinely different form factor. Whether I would make the switch permanently comes down less to the hardware and more to how willing I am to leave the iOS ecosystem.

After spending time with the Galaxy Z Flip8, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how much I’ve enjoyed using it. I’ve had fun exploring the multitasking features, trying out Galaxy AI with photos, and even discovering some of the little gimmicks that come with having a flip phone. The compact design has also been surprisingly convenient for everyday use. I definitely expected the transition from Apple to Samsung to take some getting used to, and it has, but the Flip8 has made the experience much more enjoyable than I anticipate

I plug it in for a bit before heading out and that's enough, no need to leave it on the charger for an hour while I wait around. Small thing, but it adds up over three weeks of not thinking about it. The folded size is the real selling point though. It shrinks down small enough to disappear into a pocket, and the cover screen hides the fact there's a full display folded away behind it. Day to day it's just a small phone, and you unfold it when you actually need the bigger screen. One thing worth knowing before you buy: once unfolded, the screen ratio sits closer to 16:9 rather than the tall, narrow aspect most flagship phones use now. If you watch a lot of video on your phone, this changes how footage gets framed.

Battery life is also good, and the phone can last a whole day out. As for the camera, using a hand gesture to trigger a selfie on the Z Flip 8’s 10MP front camera is incredibly convenient and probably my favourite feature of the phone! As for the main camera, pictures are very sharp when taken in the day, and when you zoom in, the details are well polished. Taking selfies is also great because you can just use a hand gesture to trigger the shot. Nighttime shooting is a bit mixed. The low-light mode is very intuitive to use, but the actual photo quality can be found a little wanting. Overall, it's a fun and practical phone to use daily!

The FlexCam makes taking photos and videos from different angles so much easier, while the Fancam feature lets me stay in frame and track my movements without needing someone behind the camera. Coming from an iPhone 17 Pro Max, I didn’t expect the Flip8 to change my shooting habits as much as it did. Its compact foldable design makes it easy to carry around, but it still gives me the flexibility I need as a creator. For me, the Galaxy Z Flip8 isn’t just another smartphone — it’s become another tool in my creative kit.

The main reason I bought it is the form factor—when folded it's so small and compact, fits perfectly in my smaller handbags and even pocket. Samsung Pay is super convenient, especially for public transport, just tap the folded phone on the MRT or bus reader, no need to unfold at all. The UI is smooth and clean with nice animations, and the cover screen widgets are handy. Camera is decent—daytime photos are clear with natural colours, and flex mode is useful for selfies and video calls without tripod, though night photos are a bit noisy. The only problem is Chinese apps: many cannot find on Google Play Store, must download APK from other websites, and some have late notifications or no fingerprint login, so if you rely on those apps must think carefully. Overall, I have enjoyed using the phone.

Coming from iOS, there was definitely a learning curve at first, but Smart Switch made the transition much easier than I expected, transferring most of my content and even my app layout. The camera has also been a pleasant surprise. I tested it at an indoor performance from quite a distance and was impressed with how clear and stable my video turned out, even in lower lighting. I’ve also been having fun discovering the photo editing tools — especially Reflection Remover, which was surprisingly useful when I was photographing old family photos with lots of glare. The results almost looked like I had scanned the photos. Overall, the Flip8 has been a really fun change from what I’m used to, and I’ve enjoyed discovering new features as I go.

While waiting for my friends, I swapped out the wallpaper for our group photo. Love the customizations. When taking selfies, it stands by itself without needing a tripod, so convenient! The camcorder style of video recording is so nostalgic too.

I really liked the lightweight design and the folding mechanism was smooth. Battery life was good for something this thin. I also like that I can access apps when it is folded. I only wish the screen is bigger for a senior citizen like me. Perhaps the Fold will be a better option for me.

Its folding design makes it compact, easy to carry, and more interesting to use than a traditional smartphone. The hinge feels sturdy, although the screen crease is still noticeable. Rated 4 out of 5 by thashar8 from Galaxy Z Flip8 I have been trialling the Flip 8 as part of the Samsung Easy Mode Club, and it has been quite a breath of fresh air from a form factor perspective - having been used to candy bar style phones all my life. The cover screen is quite innovative and opens up a few workflows like taking quick selfies, getting quick tasks done like navigation, using AI voice apps, and replying messages. Opening the phone can remain for heavier tasks involving multiple apps, reading articles, etc. I appreciate Samsung's dedication to innovation here, though I did find the camera and inner screen to be a little lacking in terms of sharpness and feel when scrolling. The camera tended to wash out the colors in images, and the screen feels plasticky to the touch. Elements of the android interface also feel less refined compared to iOS - for example consistency of font sizes across apps remains a challenge. Overall it has been interesting to try out the form factor!

The flip is genuinely fun to use, and the cover screen is cute and useful for quick interactions. However, after a few weeks of use, I realised I couldn’t quite get used to the UI. It also started feeling slightly sluggish at times. The camera is nice for casual vlogging when you’re out, especially with the foldable design, but quickly opening the camera still doesn’t feel completely smooth. Even with the double-press lock button shortcut, there can be a slight delay before I’m ready to take a photo. Battery life is probably my biggest issue. I can use it for around 2–3 hours and drop from 100% to around 30%, so I find myself having to think about charging quite often. Overall, it’s a beautiful and fun phone, but the battery, UI and occasional sluggishness made it difficult for me to fully adjust to it.

Sixteen apps run on the 4.1-inch cover screen out of the box, Maps and Calendar included. Most quick tasks — checking a reply, navigating, glancing at the day — never require unfolding. This is the feature that makes a flip phone make sense rather than being a novelty. The camera trick. Tap the cover-screen icon and it mirrors the viewfinder, so whoever I'm shooting can see and fix their own framing. Combined with AI bokeh and Super Steady stabilisation, it's a genuinely good phone for casual video. Pocketability. 180g, 6.1mm unfolded, 8g lighter than the Flip 7. It vanishes in a pocket in a way no slab phone does. What's not to like Nothing new in the camera. Same 50MP + 12MP setup as last year. It's good, not flagship-beating — low light is where it shows. Battery and charging. 4,300mAh, unchanged, and still stuck at 25W. Heavy days need a top-up, and topping up is slow. Overall 4.2/5

No timer, no awkward arm stretching, and no need to ask someone else to take your photo. It also works really well for group shots with friends and family since you can fold the phone and position it wherever you need. For everyday photos, the camera is pretty impressive in daylight. The photos are sharp, and even when you zoom in, the details still hold up nicely without looking too muddy. Low-light shots, though, are a different story. The night mode is easy to use, but the results aren’t always as crisp as daytime photos, especially when there isn’t much light. Still, after using it for a month, I think the foldable form factor is what makes the Flip8 camera so fun. It’s not just about the camera quality — it’s the different ways you can position and use the phone that make taking photos and videos feel much easier and more enjoyable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by purrrnessa from Galaxy Z Flip8 As an iPhone user, I'd long admired flip phones from afar. Thankfully, I was offered a spot on Easy Mode Club to try the Z Flip 8 for 28 days! After my time with it, I'm glad I made the jump. My preferred colour, pink, was not part of the programme, so I chose cream — still beautiful! The form factor is the main draw. It's beautiful, fits in the smallest bag, and snapping it shut never gets old. The cover screen made it enjoyable to use, since I could message, scroll and even shoot photos without unfolding it. Customisation is on another level compared to iPhone, and people were impressed by how it looked. It isn't perfect. Some apps aren't optimised for foldables (not Samsung's fault), and the camera still pales next to the iPhone Pro range. It's fine for casual photography, but content creators should stick with the Pro. I'd recommend it to anyone curious about foldables. A standard phone would suffice for my day-to-day, but the Flip 8 is the one I'd pick for the fun of it.
