A knock box allows you to easily dispose of your used coffee grounds after you have pulled a shot of espresso. To do so, simply turn your portafilter upside down and tap it on the bar of the box to loosen and release the spent espresso puck.

Because the espresso puck is very hot after extraction, this knock box is made of highly resistant plastic and features a wooden knock bar that is detachable for easy emptying. The knock box can be washed by hand or cleaned in the dishwasher.

The consistency of the knocked out puck is an important indicator for the grind dose: If your dose is too high, the puck feels like a rock, meaning no expansion of the coffee has taken place. If your puck is too soft, the dose is too low. If the puck is dry with a firm surface and snaps into just a few pieces easily, your dose is perfect.
