Your Skin, Time and Money with Braun’s Series 8 Electric Shaver
My shaving journey wasn’t smooth at the beginning. I remember starting with a disposable razor with just two blades. It was both a struggle and a stinging experience; I had to go through certain spots on my face multiple times just to get a clean shave.
While there’s something manly about shaving with a razor, not many people will associate the red spots and swelling on your face caused by razor burn as something manly. That’s when I started looking into electric shavers and found the Braun Series 8 8390cc.
Shaving sensitive skin
If you have sensitive skin like I do, you probably have a good idea of how skin inflammation, irritation and razor bumps caused by razor burns feel and look like. To reduce the chance of irritating the skin and causing razor burns, the Braun Series 8 8390cc has four shaving elements – a specialised trimmer, skin guard and two opti-foils. The specialised trimmer captures longer, flat-lying hairs in problematic areas, the skin guard smoothens the skin to reduce the friction while shaving, and the opti-foils allow you to shave the hair close to the skin. These four shaving elements work together to allow you to shave in lesser strokes, and fewer strokes means more skin comfort.
Shaving properly, quickly and comfortably
Getting ready for a shave takes time, especially when you’re shaving with a razor since lathering your face with shaving cream is essential in preventing razor burns. With electric shavers like the Braun Series 8 8390cc, you can enjoy a comfortable and quick shave with or without shaving creams. It works well in wet and dry conditions, so you can shave in any condition you prefer – dry, with foam or gel, or even in the shower. If you’re worried that the electric shaver might malfunction under running water, you’ll be glad to know that it’s fully waterproof. Personally, I prefer shaving in the shower because it saves me a lot of time.
To top things off, the Braun Series 8 8390cc provides 60 minutes of cordless shaving time. Considering a typical shave is between 5 to 10 minutes, that’s six good shaves before you must charge the electric shaver. If, somehow, you’ve forgotten to charge the shaver and need a quick shave, you can simply make use of its quick charge function: 5-minutes of charge should give you ample time for a quick shave.
Getting a clean shave
There’s two parts to get a clean shave. The first part is about being able to shave hard-to-reach areas. I’ve always wondered how electric shavers, which seem to be a lot bulkier than razors, can get to those areas. To do this job, the Braun Series 8 8390cc has an 8-directional flexible shaving head which enables the shaver to glide through hard-to-reach areas and shave as close to 0.05mm near the skin.
The second part about getting a clean shave is all about cleaning the shaver. There are two ways to clean the electric shaver. For simple cleaning, you can put it under running water to remove some of the hairs and gunk from the shaving head. For a more thorough and hygienic cleaning, you should put it in the charging and cleaning station to remove all the hairs and gunk and even sanitise the shaver with alcohol in the cleaning station.
Savings dollars through shaving
An electric shaver is a much bigger investment compared to a razor at the start. If you take proper care of your electric shaver, it can last for many years. While it’s generally recommended that you change your razor blades after every 5 to 7 shaves, Braun recommends changing the shaver head cutter parts about every 18 months. That looks like a whole lot of savings in the long run, if you ask me.
